Celebrating our First Awards from the SC Brewers Guild

Opening a new brewery and sharing pints with Greenville has been a reward unto itself. But getting actual shiny medals has been especially gratifying as well.

We were surprised and in awe this past March when the Fireforge crew attended the South Carolina Brewers Guild Trade Show in Charleston and received multiple awards for our beers. Of the eight beers we submitted, five won!

Beers in each category were ranked by how true they were to style, based on the BJCP guidelines. Each of our award-winning beers has a medal hanging by it on the menu when on draft:

Gold: John Hopcock (New England-Style/Hazy IPA category)

Gold: Tampanian Devil (Belgian Triple category)

Silver: Cracker Soul (German Kolsch category)

Bronze: Perlin’s Ghost Pepper Pale Ale (Pepper/Spice category)

Bronze: Rhombus (Belgian Quad category)

We already knew these brews were special because you guys drink a ton of them! John Hopcock, Cracker Soul and Perlin’s are regularly on the board, and Tampanian Devil returned this summer to proudly sport its medal. We’re proud of Brian, Ken and their many assistants in the past year for bringing these beers to life.

The passion of our fellow Upstate breweries could be felt in the convention hall with each burst of cheers and applause. We’re excited to be among so many award-winning, hard-working breweries in South Carolina.
