Tampanian Devil Belgian-Style Tripel wins Silver Medal & Best Tripel

Our Tampanian Devil Belgian-Style Tripel Ale snagged another medal win in the beer competition circuit! It received a Silver Medal and Best Tripel in the Beverage Testing Institute’s 2022 World Beer Championships.

This year’s competition saw hundreds of submissions from the United States, Australia, England, Finland, Singapore, China, and Canada. Since 1994, Beverage Testing Institute and its expert judges have flexed their palates and experience in evaluating brews representing 125 different categories.

We brew Tampanian Devil with Southeastern-grown craft malts, and we add guava, grains of paradise, and a hint of star anise for a special “Tampa-inspired” twist.

This beer was originally concepted in Tampa, FL when co-owners Brian and Nicole lived there for a few years before returning to Greenville, SC. In Tampa, they were home-brewing up a storm and working on their brewery business plan.

Tampanian Devil was inspired by their Cuban neighborhood. During brewdays, Nicole would pop over to La Teresita to pick up Cuban sammies and creamy, guava desserts. (All of which go well with Cigar City Jai Alai, by the way.)

With such a strong tie to an area where they lived for a short time, it’s only fitting that the Tampanian Devil can label design pay homage. The inspiration is from the mosaic and tile designs in the area’s historic architectural design, particularly in nearby Ybor City. Many thanks to Tampa/Sarasota-based designer and friend, Jason Rivers, for bringing this design to life!
