Fireforge Wins Medals at 2023 World Beer Championships

Honors Include Gold Medal for Best American Style Lager

We recently earned three medals in the 2023 World Beer Championships (WBC), a global competition recognizing exceptional taste and quality.

Founded in 1994 by the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI) as the first international beer competition in the United States, the WBC sees hundreds of submissions from talented brewers around the world each year. Using a blind tasting methodology, an expert industry panel evaluates beers in 125 different categories and awards rankings on a 100-point rating scale.

  • Game Time Decision, a 4.3% ABV American Light Lager brewed with Southeastern-grown Riverbend Cumberland Pilsner and malted corn, scored an impressive 94 in the world-renowned competition and snagged a gold medal for 2023 Best American Style Lager.
  • Novemberfest, a 5.7% ABV malty Märzen reflecting the brewery’s love of German-style beers, scored a 93 earning a silver medal in the Märzen-Octoberfest category.
  • Day on the Lake, a crisp 5.5% ABV German-style Pilsner with Riverbend Cumberland Pilsner malt, rounded out the brewery’s recognition with a 92 rating and a bronze medal in the Pilsner category.

Our brew team also used “Fresh DF” Lager Yeast from Berkeley Yeast Lab to ferment each beer.

Three beers earned a Gold “exceptional” distinction by scoring over 90 in BTI’s rating system. We started Fireforge to create the greatest beer drinking experience in the world – a lofty goal – so having our brews awarded globally for their quality is encouraging and humbling.
